White House: Jemele Hill's Tweets about Trump are a 'fireable offense'

Jemele Hill landed in a bit of hot water after her tweets slamming Kid Rock and President Donald Trump caught the attention of her employers at ESPN.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Hill had deleted the tweets in question.

Also, "Trump is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime". In August, ESPN pulled an announcer named Robert Lee from broadcasting a University of Virginia football game in Charlottesville, just days after a protest by white supremacists over the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee.

In the end, ESPN's problems are not political - although non-political things are often labeled "political" simply because they are something some do not like.

She called him "unqualified and unfit" to be president, adding that if he wasn't a white man, he never would have made it to the oval office.

Opinionated conservative and former Major League Baseball star Curt Schilling was sacked from the network for expressing political views on social media in 2016 and former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry tweeted that she was once "reprimanded" after she favorited conservative-leaning tweets.

Dortmund Game 'So Important', Says Pochettino
Previously we played in the Europa League, for 98 or 99 percent of the players, and for myself too. Tottenham have struggled at Wembley in recent years even when they aren't playing European games.

In a timely article posted on "The Ringer" Wednesday, Bryan Curtis details why Hill and her "Sportscenter" partner Michael Smith have been blamed for leading a perceived liberal bias at ESPN. "Since she's basically the opposite of that, we'll have to wait and see how ESPN handles it".

Is there a culture of fear at the network's Bristol headquarters?

Hill has received support for expressing her opinions, but the 41-year-old has also been the subject of criticism.

"If you're a Republican or conservative, you feel the need to talk in whispers", one conservative ESPN employee said. She went on record in April during an interview with "the Bernie and Sid Show" (h/t Sports Illustrated) that politics were becoming a sizable problem within the industry.

ESPN did not elaborate on any possible punishment for Hill, who was on Tuesday evening's "SportsCenter" broadcast as usual.

Hill was suspended for a week in 2008 after writing in a column that "rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim". Detractors, though, want her fired.
