NASA sees Hurricane Jose in between Bahamas and Bermuda

Hurricane Jose track map 10

The storm is about 510 miles east-northeast of the Southeastern Bahamas and about 470 miles south of Bermuda.

On Sept. 12 at 1:35 p.m. EDT (15:35 UTC) the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument aboard NASA's Terra satellite captured a visible image of Hurricane Jose.

Hurricane Jose, which started off as Category 4 hurricane, has lessened to Category 2 as of the latest update on September, 11 by the U.S. National Hurricane Center.

Maximum sustained winds are near 75 miles per hour with higher gusts.

While track models are coming into better agreement on Jose's path, "there still remains a significant spread", among a few of the forecasts. However, the system will still continue to maintain Hurricane Jose in the waters of the Atlantic.

Nine terrorists killed in Egypt
The attack illustrates how hard it is for the government to crush a militant campaign that has withstood a four-year crackdown. The militants detonated an improvised explosive device and destroyed four armored vehicles and a signal-jamming vehicle.

Long-range models suggest that the strengthening high-pressure area will then force the hurricane to move west-northwest toward the East Coast, according to the Weather Underground. The storm is now moving in a northeastward direction.

Current long-term forecast models for Jose are all over the map next week.

Fortunately, over the weekend, Jose only brushed the islands of the Caribbean that had been slammed by Irma, such as Barbuda, Antigua and the Virgin Islands. Many models have it eventually going up further in the Atlantic Ocean while a couple of models still have the potential for landfall somewhere in the USA, including North Carolina.

But the European computer model, the one that was most accurate tracking Irma as it moved closer to landfall, shows a turn back towards the Atlantic beginning some time Saturday.

So no one is taking their eye off Jose and its path, yet.
