Tech giants vow to fight Trump's move against child immigrants

Donald Trump's administration says it is rescinding the Daca programme but is giving Congress six months to take action on

In their complaint, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of NY, the states claimed that rescinding DACA violated constitutional guarantees of due process and statutory administrative process mandates, resulting in economic hardships for the program's recipients and, by extension, the states where they reside.

In support of their argument that Trump's decision violates the constitution's equal-protection clause, the attorneys general pointed to derogatory remarks the Republican made about Mexican migrants on the campaign trail. On one hand he rescinds the Barack Obama edict, but not for six months. "Congress, get ready to do your job - DACA!" he tweeted Tuesday.

"We understand the frustrations associated with our nation's broken immigration system, and support comprehensive reforms at the federal level to address this issue", said Hart Nelson, the chamber's vice president of public policy. First, can Congress fix the problem?

According to the Q-C Hispanic Chamber, since 2012 "we have seen the numerous benefits from the DACA program to the USA economy, including $2 billion added to state and local taxes". In their behalf, the National Federation of Filipino-American Associations joined nationwide protests and appeals, saying "DACA recipients are Americans in every sense, except for their paperwork, and should be allowed them to thrive and build lives here in the United States".

Notwithstanding his tweet, the almost 800,000 immigrants who obtained temporary work permits and deportation protections via DACA can not necessarily rest easy. And the president obliged, in the latest instance of Trump doing the bidding of leaders of the opposition. They represent the best of who we are - hard working, resilient and motivated high achievers. The administration of President Donald Trump announced this week that it would phase out the program, known colloquially as DACA, over six months.

"The president, I think - I'm hoping and I'm praying - that the president really cares about the Dreamers", Pelosi said Thursday.

We now ask Congress to undo this heartless act and pass legislation that will restore protection to the Dreamers and provide a way for them to become full citizens of the United States instead of living in a political limbo.

"Rescinding the work permits of nearly 800,000 people and forcing them into the shadows is reckless economic policy", the chamber said in a release.

But now the clock is ticking for Congress to deal with this issue. So a bill to replace DACA, he says, should be accompanied with limits on extended family unification migration and with "enhanced enforcement measures", such as mandatory E-Verify.
