Barcelona bid rejected as Dortmund stand firm over Dembele

Barcelona Closing Ousmane Dembele

Yesterday it emerged that Dortmund have quoted the La Liga side a fee of £135m for Dembele, a figure that would represent a staggering profit of £122m in just 12 months if realised.

"We are not worrying about Dembele going to Barcelona".

Manager Peter Bosz told reporters that the Frenchman skipped the session without informing any body at the club.

The 20-year-old French forward has been visibly frustrated at club ever since Spanish club Barcelona expressed interest in signing him and Dembele appears to have set his heart on a Barca move despite Dortmund's effort to keep him.

Callum Bunce of Ladbrokes said: "Dembele couldn't have made his intentions any clearer with his recent actions, and the money suggests it's surely only a matter of time before the club let go of their prized asset".

"As there is no other offer from FC Barcelona until now, the transfer of Dembele to Barcelona isn't likely".

Long-term suitors Barcelona have identified Dembele as their number one target to replace Neymar, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record deal last week.

Dortmund later confirmed that the player would be given a fine and be suspended for their DfB Pokal cup match against non-league Rielasingen this weekend. BVB have turned this offer down.

After Dembele missed training on Thursday, Bosz said: "I have no idea why he wasn't there".

"Dembele didn't show up for training today", Bosz said. "We have tried to reach him and hope that nothing bad has happened".

Spain's Mundo Deportivo and Germany's SportBild claim that Barca chief executive Oscar Grau has led a delegation of club officials to Dortmund to finalise terms over the Dembele deal.
