Wimbledon 2017 women's round-up: Heather Watson powers past 18th seed Anastasija Sevastova

Anastasija Sevastova Wimbledon 2017

Resurgent Watson played superbly to trounce 19th seed Anastasija Sevastova 6-0 6-4 today, conceding just eight points in a blistering opening set.

Watson ended the match with three successive breaks of serve to book her place in the last 32 in just 61 minutes. "I feel like I'm seeing the ball very big and am moving well".

Watson will now face Victoria Azarenka in the third round, and the Brit herself knows that she has to be at her best to prevail in the clash.

She dropped out of the top 100 and failed to qualify for the French Open but things finally came together again in Eastbourne last week, where she reached the semi-finals. Making the second week of a slam would be huge for me. And if I do, my coach said he'd shave his head. But I said, 'No, your girlfriend will kill you. "You can shave your legs"'.

"Whoever I play in the third round is a very tough match, and I have no idea what the draw is". "You don't get to where she's got to in her career without, you know, being a really good player".

Florentino Perez has not spoken to Manchester United over Alvaro Morata
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has admitted that Alvaro Morata's representatives are in talks with Manchester United . Dermot Corrigan is a Madrid-based football writer who covers La Liga and the Spain national team for ESPN FC.

The 25-year-old said: "I'm not motivated every week".

"Starts are important but I'm really happy with the second set because she raised her level".

She has reached the third round of Wimbledon twice before, losing to Serena Williams in a three-set thriller in 2015.

Now Watson must try to win her first match in five attempts against former world No.1 and new mum Azarenka, who is playing her first grand slam since giving birth to son Leo just before Christmas. I had to expect that she would raise her level after the first set and I just had to remain calm and adjust my game. She definitely is going to be a crowd favorite.
