What happened in Bill Cosby's sexual-assault trial

The prosecution rested its case on Friday.

Constand has said Cosby suggested that the pills, which she said left her barely conscious and unable to resist, were herbal.

The jury was not immediately read one of the most explosive exchanges in the deposition: where Cosby acknowledged using quaaludes, a now-banned sedative, in his pursuit of women for sex. The defense starts its case on Monday. She said she has neither bias against or toward Cosby.

On another occasion, Cosby responded to a fan by offering up the famous "Hey, hey, hey" catchphrase from Fat Albert, the animated character he voiced in the 1970s. He then waved from the back of an SUV.

The 79-year-old entertainer is charged with drugging and molesting a woman at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

In court, Bill Cosby stands by his word that he didn't tell Andrea Constand's mother, Gianna Constand, he had given her pills because he was "afraid" of the potential "financial consequence" and that he was being recorded. His spokesman says it's under consideration.

As the trial entered its fifth day on Friday (09Jun17), prosecutors introduced Dr. Veronique Valliere to the witness stand to share her knowledge about how victims typically behave after an assault, as is allowed in such cases under state law.

Cosby's lawyers will present his side of the story before jurors get the case. McMonagle requested a mistrial or that the entire testimony of Valliere be stricken because her testimony-especially when she talked about how victims might fear reporting an attacker much more powerful than them-sounded too much like the allegations against Cosby.

Israel approves largest West Bank settlements in 25 years
The plans are at various stages in the process and the units are located in a number of settlements across the West Bank . Sears released a statement Wednesday saying that they removed their "Free Palestine" shirts from its online marketplace .

The trial continues Friday afternoon.

He says in the deposition that he no longer had quaaludes at that time.

In the deposition, Cosby said he gave Constand three half-tablets of the cold and allergy medicine Benadryl before the "petting" began.

In the deposition, he admits giving quaaludes before sex in 1976 to one of his approximately 60 accusers. Doing so would carry enormous risk for Cosby, exposing him to cross-examination about some of the lurid things in his deposition.

Rohrig said the effects Constand described were consistent with the effects of Benadryl. But Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt hinted Friday that his boss might be changing his mind. Wyatt said the TV star told her stay away so that she wouldn't have to endure the "media circus". Cosby was asked in a passage read Friday. "I apologized", Cosby said in the deposition, according to USA Today. The defense has questioned Constand's continued contact with Cosby after the alleged assault and conflicting reports of when the incident occurred. Would jurors reconsider why Constand may have repeatedly called Cosby after the assault? Cosby, who turns 80 in July, previously publicly said he won't testify. Cosby has said the encounter was consensual.

For five days Cosby has been accompanied to court by his supporters, including Keisha Knight Pulliam, who played Rudy on The Cosby Show, actress Sheila Frazier, and comedian Joe Torry. On Wednesday, actress Sheila Frazier and her hairstylist husband, John Atchison, arrived with Cosby.

His interactions with fans outside the courthouse, coupled with a parade of show business friends who have attended the trial in support, have signaled he is intent on repairing his public image. Constand claims the drug she was given made her helpless to react.

In an interview before the trial, Cosby told a radio host that he hopes to resume touring afterward.
