Watch Jason Dufner hole out for eagle during record-setting round

Jordan Spieth tees off on the 15th hole during the first round of the Memorial golf tournament Thursday

Sweden's Lingmerth, victor of the Jack Nicklaus-hosted PGA Tour event in Dublin, Ohio, in 2015, set the target early with a morning round that included eight birdies and one eagle, with three bogeys.

Summerhays was at 13-under 203.

Day carded four birdies against three bogeys Friday in another frustrating round on what is his home course. He dropped two shots on the back nine but also birdied the 15th to leave himself on four under for the tournament.

He made four straight bogeys on the front nine and lost his five-shot lead in five holes.

"Honestly, I've got so much to think about out there right now, " Summerhays said.

From 175 yards out, Dufner looked to improve upon the bogey from Thursday's round and did so in a big way, playing his shot off the slope to the back left of the pin and rolling it in for eagle.

Birdies in three of his final five holes saw Dufner move to 14 under and beat the previous halfway best at the tournament by a shot.

"Hopefully I can play well tomorrow; that will give me a good boost going into the off week, so I can train and practice a little harder and get some rest before heading to the US Open", said Day. I felt good with the putter today and that really helps a lot out here. But when we came for the Presidents Cup, I played really well.

Five birdies, no bogeys, and that eagle threw down the gauntlet to the afternoon wave of players, but at the time he finished, Dufner led the field by eight shots.

In Dufner's first two appearances at Muirfield Village - 2009 and 2010 - he missed the cut and didn't shoot a round better than 73.

"I'm excited to have another chance here", Kuchar said.

Johnson three-putted after putting his tee shot into the water on the par-3 16th and made triple bogey. He missed the putts he had been making for two days.

"A lot of luck with it going in", Dufner said. It added to a 71, and he was six shots behind. "I'll probably hit a few putts with the hands shaking and everything like that".

Former Irish Open champion Jamie Donaldson shot 69 for eight-under and a two-shot lead ahead of Italy's Renato Paratore.

The four-time victor on the PGA Tour threatened to run away with the tournament after breaking the event's 36-hole record at Muirfield Village on Friday but he faded dramatically, holing six bogeys and a double-bogey.

World number one Dustin Johnson missed the cut after following his opening round six-over 78 with a 74, while England's Luke Donald, Tommy Fleetwood and Scott Gregory will also not be taking part in the final two rounds.

Matsuyama was among a group of 13 players sharing 13th place that also included five-time major victor Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler.
