Jaguar confirms 600-horsepower XE SV Project 8 super sedan

Jaguar XE SV Project 8 hood

A teaser video of the new XE SV Project 8, the most powerful, agile and extreme performance Jaguar.

Under the chunky, vented bonnet sits a version of the 5.0-litre V8 also seen in the F-Type SVR sports auto.

Jaguar's Special Operations division has just unleashed the company's latest ludicrous offering, the XE SV Project 8. A camouflaged test mule is now testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. With the release of the new XE SV Project 8, the performance and the aerodynamics of the vehicle will be taken to a new high level. At present, the fastest four-door sedan on the Nordschleife is the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV, though all this could change with the coming of the XE SV Project 8.

This suggests it will beat the 3.5sec 0-60mph time of Jaguar's current most accelerative road vehicle, the all-wheel drive F-Type SVR, edging the XE SV into the realms of hardcore machinery like the Porsche 911 GT3 and ahead of fellow limited-run track special, the BMW M4 GTS.

Jaguar say that no more than 300 Project 8s will be created, each hand-built at SVO's technical centre in Coventry.

Set for an official debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom next month, check out the Project 8 in action, and some serious camouflage, under testing on the Nürburgring...

The XE SV Project 8 promises huge horsepower and a limited production run.

Although it will likely share its basic engine layout with other speedy Jaguars, the super XE will be more powerful than any performance Big Cat before it.

The difference is that where the British-built F-Type SVR develops 567bhp (and a whole lot of delicious noise), the 5.0-litre V8 in the XE SV Project offers 600PS (591.6bhp).

The team is very enthusiastic and is committed to the creation of a thrilling experience for the driver.
