Yates, Flynn And The Trump-Russia Investigation

"Former U.S. President Barack Obama warned then-President-elect Donald Trump not to give the post of national security adviser in his administration to Michael Flynn who was eventually fired in a controversy about ties to Russian Federation, a former Obama aide said".

Chairman Sen. Richard Burr, R-North Carolina, and Vice Chairman Sen.

Mr Flynn and other associates of President Trump have received similar requests from the committee for information and documents over the past few weeks.

Federal prosecutors also recently issued subpoenas to his former business associates.

President Trump on Tuesday abruptly fired FBI Director James Comey, sending political observers into a tailspin. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein provided the justification for Comey's firing, citing his handling of the Clinton email investigation.

Trump has said he has no nefarious ties to Russian Federation and isn't aware of any involvement by his aides in Moscow's interference in the election.

Comey was set to testify before the Intelligence Committee Thursday, but Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe will take his place.

Comey has been invited to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee next Tuesday but he has not yet confirmed if he will attend.

Her testimony, coupled with the revelation hours earlier that President Barack Obama himself had warned Donald Trump against hiring Flynn shortly after the November election, made clear that alarms about Flynn had reached the highest levels of the US government months before.

The Daily Beast reported this week, meanwhile, that White House lawyers "have had to warn" Trump "repeatedly" against reaching out to Flynn.

Former Acting U.S. Attorney General Sally Yates testified this week that she had warned the White House that Flynn had been compromised by his contacts with Russian Federation and could have been vulnerable to blackmail.

Both the Trump administration and Russian Federation deny any involvement in the alleged activity.

In an interview with CBS' "Face the Nation" last week, the president said it "could've been China" that was responsible for hacking during the campaign.

Spicer described Yates, who was an Obama appointee, as "someone who is not exactly a supporter of the president's agenda".

Flynn's lawyer, Robert Kelner, has said that Flynn was not hiding anything, noting that he briefed the DIA on his trip to Russian Federation. "Could've been China, could've been a lot of different groups".
