Colbert has good week in ratings despite controversy

'The Daily Show' gang is reuniting on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'

Last night, Jon Stewart was on the Late Show which, as you know is now hosted by his protege, Stephen Colbert.

Stephen Colbert brought the old Daily Show gang back together last night.

When Colbert asked him why, Stewart told him that he's been reading about him in the news. Sure, but now we're talking about a line comedians aren't allowed to cross, and we promise that scenario doesn't end well when drawn out.

He ended with a classic Jon Stewart moment on Colbert's fellatio joke about Trump and Russian Federation.

"I'm not comfortable here".

Among the best parts: Corddry's favorite comedians were Bill Cosby and Jared Fogle ("They will never let you down"); Oliver-as-Carell setting off to Hollywood to become a serious actor (with a bad British accent); Stewart hoarding yogurts in the fridge; and the traditional pre-show prayer.

'That I do, ' Colbert replied.

Chelsea Manning to be released from prison next week
Manning had served seven years of a 35-year stretch when outgoing president Barack Obama commuted her sentence earlier this year. After being punished with solitary confinement for the first suicide attempt , Manning tried to commit suicide again in October.

"I do watch Fox in the morning, and their ratings have gone through the roof because everyone knows I'm watching Fox". 'But might I say, I learned it from you, Dad'.

"The things that you say, even if they are crass, or even if they in some ways are not respectful enough to the office of the president - we can insult, [Trump] can injury", Jon said.

Oliver, pretending to be Steve Carrell, who was unavailable for the reunion, bragged that he was "off to Hollywood to become a serious actor" before then-host Stewart emerged from the kitchen fridge. When the crowd started cheering on hearing it, Colbert chided them for doing so, but in a sarcastic manner.

Bee then entered, complete with enormous curly hair, in shock that Colbert was leaving in the middle of George W. Bush's presidency. (Stewart and his wife own a sanctuary farm in New Jersey.) "But the things that I've gained in terms of time with family, I wouldn't give up", Stewart continued.

"There's never gonna be another president this good for comedy", she joked. And we went out to a cross burning in the countryside - as you do. Before The Late Show, and even before The Colbert Report, Stephen first got our attention as a correspondent on The Daily Show. As Colbert himself says on the show, it's really like there's magic in the studio.

"Now, if you saw my monologue Monday, you know that I was a little upset at Donald Trump for insulting a friend of mine".

Stewart explained that he misses how his involvement in the show helped him "make sense" of the news.
