Void left by Vinod Khanna's death hard to fill: Naidu

The actor was all set to be seen in a film with actress Hema Malini

Bollywood Superstar Vinod Khanna who is the favorite actor of millions of movie buffs, passed away this morning.

Khanna began his career, which lasted almost five decades, with Man Ka Meet in 1968 and is best remembered for his performance in films like Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Amar Akbar Anthony, Qurbani and Dayavaan.

Khanna is best known for starring in over 100 films including Mera Gaon, Mera Desh, (My Village, My Country), Gaddaar, (Traitor), Kuchhe Dhaage, (Fragile Threads), Amar, Akbar, Anthony, and Qurbani, (Sacrifice) among many more.

The 70-year-old actor, who was in hospital for over a month now, died of bladder cancer.

A large number of teary-eyed actors, producers, directors and a few actresses, his colleagues in the Bharatiya Janata Party, fans and admirers also turned up to pay their final respects both at his home and the crematorium. He is also an active politician besides acting.

But Khanna returned to cinema in the late 1980s, and courted success again with films such as Insaaf and Satyameva Jayate.

"As a mark of respect to our beloved Vinod Khanna, the entire team of Baahubali has chose to cancel the premiere tonight.,' posted the 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" helmer.

Former India captain Ravi Shastri expressed his condolences to the family of his friend Vinod Khanna's death.
